Create Web Forms

 

Form Options

With MagicForms you can create forms on the fly. Once logged into the admin area, you are presented with a new form screen with an active "Form" options tab in the right-hand panel:

Here you have the following options (see the screenshot):

Form name is the name of your form, only visible in the admin area

Form width is the form size in pixels. To make it more convenient, we've added a scroll bar below the field and you can see an approximate width for your form instantly. Leave the field empty or 0 and the default width will be applied.

Prev. Button is the caption name for the button that leads to the previous form page (for multipage forms)

Subm Button is the caption title for the Submit button (e.g. "Apply now", "Submit form", etc.)

Theme is the option that allows you to select the style of your form from the availible templates. Click on the field to see the "Theme selection menu":

Submit to is the type of storage of the form data. which can be sent both to Administrator, Visitors, and/or Database. You can also specify different combination here, e.g. the form data can be sent only to Admin and Database. or to the Visitor's email address.

After-Submission Message is the message displayed once the form is submitted. This field is optional and if left blank, users do not see popup message once they press the Submit button.

Anti-Spam Options allow you to effectively fight spammers and spam robots. You can limit submissions from one IP address to one submission. An additional and trusted anti-spam option is the use of Ultimate Spam Protection, which represent a randomly generated image (CAPTCHA) that must be entered exactly as displayed on the form.

Redirect Options allow the administrator to:

1) redirect users to the specified URL once they submit the form. To active the field, tick the corresponding button and enter the URL in the input field below;

2) execute a PHP script on the form. To activate the field, tick the radio button and enter the url to the PHP script in the input field below ;

3) redirect users back to the page they came from (Reload BACK)

Add Pages

 

If your form is a one-page form, there's no need to add new pages. However, if a multipage form with lots of section, add as many pages to the form as needed.

To add new pages to the form, click on the image81.gif button. To set up the page options, go to the "Page" tab (see the screenshot below). Here you can specify caption names for the "Previous page" button and the "Next page" button. To apply the changes to all the form's pages, check the box "Apply to all pages".

Add Fields

Add fields to your form using an easy and convenient Drag&Drop fuctionality. Create fields and rearrange them in the way you need. The following field types are availible in MagicForms:

 

image83.gif Text filed. Press this buton to add a Text field to your form.

image84.gif Password field. To add a field with the "hidden" type (normaly used for password or any other protection fields), click o this buton.

image85.gif Checkbox. This button is responsible for checkbox fields. Press it, highlight the field and under the "Field Values" in the "Field" tab add checkbox items.

image86.gif Radio button. This button adds radio button fields. Select the field, go to the "Field" tab and specify the items for this field under "Fields Values".

image87.gif Drop-down list. Press this buton to add a drop-down list to the form. Follow the same steps as mentioned above to add items to the list.

image88.gif Multiple selection list. This button adds multiple selection fields

image89.gif Text area. To add a text area field, press this button. You can add "field validation" to this as well as any other field in the form by pressing the "Field" tab in the right corner and selecting the "Validation" menu.

image90.gif File upload.File upload fields is added by means of this button. Press the button, and in the "Field" tab you can specify the maximum sile size to be uploadede through your form

image91.gif Hidden field. This button adds a hidden field to the form

image92.gif HTML field. To ad HTML entitied to the field, press this button. Here you can specify HTML tags, add logotypes, images, etc. E.g. to add a logo, under the "Field" tab in the "Field Values" enter a code similar to this one .

image93.gif Calendar. This is a "Date" field type. Once pressed, a calendar field type is added.

image94.gif Numbers format. This field is used for numbers formatting. Typically, such fields can be used to format phone numbers, credit cards, etc.

image95.gif PayPal option. Add paypal payment field to your form.

image96.gif 2Checkout field. To link your form with 2Checkout payments system, add this field to the form and set up its options properly.

 

 

Validation Rules

To add a validation rule to the field, click on a field and go the "Field" tab:

Now press the "Validtion" menu and set up the validation rule for the field. The following check rules are avaliable:

Not Empty. Once checked, the field becomes required and allows any combination of characters. Specify the error message that will be displayed if the field is left empty.

Numbers only. Once selected, the field will allow only numeric values.

Letters only adds a validation rule that allows only letters to be submitted.

Email. This rule checks the format of the input value and ensures the visitor enters an email address in the field.

Multi Email. This validation rule checks the format of the input value (ensures the visitor enters email addresses). The values can be separated by comma, semi column, spaces, and breaks.

Chars Interval. To make sure the input value contains a limited number of characters, use the "Chars Interval" check rule. In the fields with the "Checkbox" or "RadioButton" type, this rule limits the number of items that must be selected by the form user.

Specify custom error message for any validation rule.
